Crawford County Case Study
Lining of a 108 inch pipe using county crew!
When Crawford County decided to look at culvert lining as an option, they called D. A. Van Dam & Associates. The cost to dig and replace was higher than culvert lining and the county wanted to maintain traffic and not disturb the roadway surface. Crawford County had never done culvert lining, but we helped them get the job done.
First we did a culvert inspection and “needs analysis” for them…free of charge. The existing 120 foot, 108 inch culvert was deflecting in several areas so a 90 inch ID liner was used. Even though the liner installed was smaller than the existing pipe, flow was increased because of the coefficient of flow for this type of liner pipe.
The new liner was installed by Crawford County and we provided on site training and completed the grout and bulkhead work. The installed culvert fixed the swells and restored the culvert without the need to close the roadway.
